Three Stories of Unapologetic Drama

Picture this: You're standing on the west coast of Antigua and Barbuda, where the Caribbean doesn't just sparkle—it demands your attention. And we thought, "Why should the ocean have all the fun?"

Our clients—sophisticated Brits with impeccable taste and zero patience for boring—handed us the keys to their multi-level Tamarind Hills villa with one unspoken mandate: Surprise us.

Challenge accepted.

Rattan Is Not a Personality

Here's what we didn't do: reach for the tired tropical playbook of whitewashed everything, obligatory palm prints, and enough rattan to furnish a small island nation.

Instead? We went tempered maximalist—the American way.  Start with “more”, and then we added three more layers.

This 3-level oceanfront estate became our canvas for what we call Modern American Maximalism meets Caribbean sensuality. Think bold, layered, globally-inspired interiors that actually have something to say. Pattern clashes with pattern in the best possible way. Rich embroideries from artisan traditions around the world share space with custom upholstery tough enough to handle salt air and Sunday champagne spills.

The Fabric of Our Philosophy

Every single textile in this villa was chosen like we were curating a museum collection—if museums were actually fun. We layered embroideries, mixed global patterns, and commissioned custom upholstery that works as hard as it looks good.

Because here's the truth about Caribbean living: your furniture needs to be beautiful enough for your most glamorous guests and durable enough to survive island life. No compromises. That's the maximalist promise.

Competing With Paradise (And Winning)

When your floor-to-ceiling windows frame uninterrupted Caribbean views, your interior design has exactly two choices: fade into the background or rise to the occasion.

We chose to stand out. (The decorative kind.)

Across all three levels, we created rooms bold enough to make you occasionally forget there's an ocean outside. Your eye ping-pongs between imported treasures and tropical light, between artistry and azure, genuinely confused about which view deserves more attention.

That's when you know you've nailed it.

Not Your Tourist Brochure Tropics

This villa embodies everything we believe about modern tropical design: honor the setting without being held hostage by it.

For our UK-based clients, we crafted spaces that feel simultaneously exotic and welcoming—like that friend who's traveled everywhere, collected everything, and somehow makes it all work together at a dinner party. It's celebratory without being exhausting. Cohesive without being boring.

Key Elements of the Design

For this project, we focused on the decor elements. A few key elements make the design work:  

Custom Upholstery - A lot of upholstery items were created to add durability to the decor.  WE opted for durable textiles that can handle the elements but also the fact that this would be a luxury rental during the season when the clients were away.    

Statement Lighting - New lighting fixtures were introduced to provide more ambiance and visual interest

Custom Window Treatments - Adding custom window treatments added a necessary depth to the design.  Additionally, it provided clients more layers of privacy in the bedrooms and the common spaces.  

Artwork & Decor - For this project we looked to include lively 60s/70s photography from Slim Aarons that featured Antigua & Barbuda and other Caribbean locations.  Throughout the bedrooms, we leaned into vintage poster promoting travel to the Caribbean.  Other textural art pieces were used inside and out.

Working on exclusive properties from Miami to Antigua lets us prove something important: our design philosophy travels effortlessly.

Our signature approach—bold color, fearless pattern mixing, sophisticated layering—doesn't just survive the translation to Caribbean living. It thrives there. The intensity of the light, the drama of the views, the cultural richness of the islands—maximalism was practically invented for this.
