In Miami's charming High Pines enclave, a recently rebuilt residence presented itself as the ultimate designer's dream—a pristine white canvas awaiting transformation. When a young U.K. couple chose this neighborhood to begin their American chapter, they sought more than just a house. They wanted a home that could hold their story while embracing Miami's vibrant energy.
Casually Sophisticated Design for Modern Living
My mission? Create a space where sophistication sheds its stuffiness, where design-forward thinking meets everyday comfort. This High Pines residence became our laboratory for exploring that delicious tension between polished and playful, curated and comfortable, impressive and inviting.
I rejected the false choice between casual living and elevated design. Instead, I crafted interiors where iconic furniture pieces coexist with vintage discoveries, where you can admire the artistry while living fully within it. This is what I call casually sophisticated—spaces that inspire without intimidating, that celebrate beauty without sacrificing livability.

Playful Maximalist Design: Embracing Color, Pattern & Texture
Against those white walls, we unleashed a symphony of sensory delight. Bold color became our language, intricate pattern our vocabulary, rich texture our punctuation. This wasn't decoration for decoration's sake—it was intentional joy translated into spatial design.
Every room layers pattern against pattern with confident abandon. Textiles from across continents converse across furniture. Colors that shouldn't work together somehow become inevitable companions. This is playful maximalism at its finest—rooted in deep design knowledge but unafraid to dance at the edges of convention.
The Art of Fearless Curation: Iconic Meets Vintage
For this High Pines project, I leaned heavily into our greatest strength: fearless curation. We hunted for pieces with presence—iconic design classics that anchor rooms with their pedigree, vintage finds that whisper untold histories, contemporary art that provokes and delights.
The magic emerged in the mixing. A mid-century masterpiece beside a local market treasure. Investment upholstery paired with inherited textiles. Museum-worthy ceramics casually displayed alongside collected curiosities. This is curation as artform—knowing not just what's beautiful, but what belongs together in beautiful tension.

Walking through this residence should feel like experiencing a gallery where you're invited to touch everything. Visual richness meets tactile pleasure. Colors shift with Miami's ever-changing light. Patterns reveal new details upon each glance. Textures beg for interaction.
