Designing the Southwest Florida Escape: Where Coastal Elegance Meets Gulf Coast Living
When you think of Southwest Florida—Naples, Marco Island, Bonita Springs—what comes to mind? Pristine sugar-sand beaches, championship golf courses, swaying palms against endless blue skies. But beyond the postcard views lies something equally remarkable: a distinctive design aesthetic that captures the very essence of refined coastal living. For me at my interior design studio, the usual troupes of sea-motifs will be markedly absent from our designs. In their place I infuse more layered expressions that reflect your personality than the city itself.
A resident of Florida since a very young age, I grew up vacationing in Naples and Marco Island. It was an experience I looked forward to every year. We visited the area countless times throughout the year. I was always drawn to the laidback lifestyle, the eclectic mix of residents and guests and of course, the beaches. Out visits to the west coast were full of beach time and it allowed me to connect to the area intermittently throughout the year. Being so close to Naples and Marco Island, we were fortunate to visit sporadically throughout the year.
I was always drawn by the beach cool vibe of Marco Island and the chicness of Naples. Old Naples has a unique charm that is elegant but not stuffy. It strikes the balance between Palm Beach glamour and Miami glam. It has been a treat getting to see Naples, Marco Island and Bonita Spings grow through the years as they welcome new residents to ultimately make the area their home.
The Art of Southwest Florida Interior Design
For me creating interiors for Southwest Florida's most prestigious communities isn't simply about following trends or replicating coastal clichés. It's about understanding what makes each location unique and translating that character into spaces where families live, entertain, and create memories. Whereas I'm a true maximalist, I love being able to play with the degree of maximalism. My overall design philosphy leans to capture an eclectic vibe that bridges the span from modern to traditional. Especially in southwest florida, it becomes commonplace to overuse tropical troupes. Large-scale florals and softer blues. Whereas that is certainly a lovely expression of a coastal motif, I find that design conversation gets really fun when you can add to the coastal mix, a touch of modern, a dash of mid-century, and nice helpinig of traditional. In the end, it creates a balanced, timeless design.
In Naples, design speaks the language of sophisticated coastal elegance—think Old Naples' tree-canopied charm meeting Port Royal's waterfront grandeur. Every detail, from Aqualane Shores to Pelican Bay, reflects a commitment to timeless, condo luxury that never feels stuffy or overdone. Bears Paw golf course residences offer a stately address that feels intimate and effortlessly chic.
Marco Island brings its own personality to the table. Here, island living takes center stage with a perfect balance of tropical tranquility and upscale amenities. Beachfront high-rises along Cape Marco and waterfront Hideaway Beach estates along the canals each tell a story of relaxed refinement, where Gulf-inspired palettes and water views become the foundation of every design decision. I grew up going to Marco Island for vacations. I’ve seen it grow. Every season a new wave of visitors, each leaving their mark, eager to return next season.
Then there's Bonita Springs—that beautiful bridge between Naples' polish and a more laid-back coastal vibe. From Bonita Bay's golf course communities to Little Hickory Shores' beachfront homes, the design here celebrates the area's deep connection to nature while never compromising on comfort or style.
Given these neighborhoods are made up in a large part by seasonal visitors who eventually make it their home, the design sensibility of the neighborhood is less uniform. Rather we find out clients look to bring a bit of their home with them.
Designing for Every Southwest Florida Style
The architectural diversity across our Southwest Florida communities is truly remarkable. Mediterranean Revival estates stand alongside British West Indies residences. Contemporary coastal homes and condos neighbor classic Florida architecture. Modern tropical properties share the coastline with transitional luxury builds.
Each architectural style demands its own design approach—one that honors the home's bones while creating interiors that feel authentically connected to Gulf Coast living. Whether it's a beachfront condominium, a waterfront villa, or an island-style retreat, the goal remains the same: sophisticated spaces that enhance your connection to Southwest Florida's stunning natural environment.
For each project I work closely with clients to understand their functional needs but as well, their design vision. Whether it is a modern, luxury waterfront condo, an Old Florida-style new build, or a Mediterranean-inspired golf course residence, I seek to ensure that every project reflects our client's personality while giving it my design point of view. I always like to lean into an eclectic mix that brings together modern, vintage and coastal elements. Maximizing the natural light in the spaces that so casts a wonderful South Florida glow throughout stays top of mind for all of my designs.

The best Southwest Florida interiors share certain qualities: they embrace natural light, celebrate water and landscape views, incorporate coastal textures without becoming thematic, and use nature-inspired palettes that feel both fresh and timeless. These spaces understand that luxury isn't about excess—it's about thoughtful selection, quality materials, and designs that age gracefully. Naples, Marco Island and Bonita Springs pulse with its own design energy. An energy that is eclectic, forward-thinking and well-curated. One of the things that I love about our projects in the area is that they don't conform to one specific "beachy" or "coastal" look. Rather they reflect and eclectic spirit that is curious.
Creating Your Gulf Coast Haven
Over the years the team and myself have worked with local residents who have remodeled their homes, upsized, downsized, and even those who have moved into the state. Our ability to work comfortably within the southwest florida area provides our clients peace-of-mind. My curious spirit helps me keep my designs fresh and bespoke.
